Stage 12 Sunday 19 October 2008 (4 miles) Walk from The Holy Family, Langley to St Catherine West Drayton Mass - 6.00 pm The walk will commence at 2:30pm from the church of THE HOLY FAMILY, Trelawney Avenue, Langley, SL3 7UD. Parking is available in the church car park, and in the local streets. Walkers arriving by car may decide to start at the finish, West Drayton, where there is street parking, and ‘buddy up’ with others to drive to the start in one car, and collect their car at the end of the walk before the 6:00pm Mass in West Drayton. FINISH The walk will finish at c5:00pm, a duration of c2.5 hours, at the church of St CATHERINE, The Green, West Drayton, UB7 7PJ. This will allow walkers to have refreshments and get ready for the 6:00pm Mass. REFRESHMENTS There are no refreshments or toilet facilities along the walk, but they will be available at the end of the walk in The Swan public house c100 metres from the church of St Catherine THE WALK: The walk is over level ground, with no steep inclines, although there are some minor rises and steps to be negotiated. Walkers are advised to wear sturdy shoes as much of the walk is on the canal towpath which is uneven, and very likely to be muddy in places. They should also wear appropriate clothing for the weather of the day. The first part of the walk, c0.5 mile, is mostly on public footpaths. There is one ‘B’ road to be crossed via a pelican crossing, and two minor roads to be crossed. The second part of the walk, c2.5 miles, is along the canal towpath, which is very straight. The path is unmade, stony and muddy in parts. The third part of the walk, c1 mile, is on pavement, with two minor roads to be crossed. CONCLUSION Mass will be celebrated at 6:00pm in the church of St Catherine.
