Stage 15 Sat 22 November 2008  (7.5 miles)

Walk from Ealing Abbey, Abbey Church of St Benedict to Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St Simon Stock, Kensington (Westminster Diocese)  Mass 6-00pm

Wembley Circle Circle

From Ealing Abbey steps, turn right

Walk along Charlbury Grove to the T-junction with Castlebar Road 100yds, turn right

Walk up Castlebar Road to the 4-way junction with Castlebar Hill, Castlebar Park & Mount Avenue 100yds, walk on into Castlebar Park

Walk the complete length (downhill) of Castlebar Park to its T-junction with Pitshanger Lane 400yds, turn left

Walk to the roundabout 50yds, take the right hand exit at the roundabout (you are a pedestrian you can turn right at the roundabout), Bury Park

This is a small road and ends after 70yds in a gate into Pitshanger Park, the way continues straight ahead as a path in the park, keeping the pavilion on your left and the tennis courts on your right, keep going straight on 350yds you will pass through a gate into a wooded area then cross a footbridge over the River Brent and straight on up a leafy lane, eventually passing the old St Mary’s Church, Perivale on your right after a further 300yds, from here keep going on to the footbridge over the A40 about 150yds ahead. Cross the footbridge (disabled slope access or steps). (Congratulations your first Mile)

 

From the North side of the Footbridge turn towards the Tesco Hoover building and then turn first left 50yds, Horsenden Lane South

Walk along Horsenden Lane South, past Perivale Station, under the railway bridge, past Perivale Library on your right and Perivale Community Centre on your left, until you reach after 400yds the Grand Union Canal

Turn onto the Canal footpath heading towards Alperton and Paddington; keep walking along the Canal path for approx 5miles. (Congratulations you have now completed 6 Miles)

 

When you reach the landmark of St. Mary Magdalene’s Church on your right, turn right, and off the Canal path (disabled access as the pavement is on the same level as the canal path).

Walk down Lord Hills Road and continue through the Warwick Estate amenity park 200yds to the Harrow Road.

Cross over the Harrow Road into the continuation of Lord Hills Road (using the new pedestrian friendly crossings) and straight on past Royal Oak Station

Continue down Lord Hills Road into Porchester Road and then on to the junction with Bishops Bridge Road 150yds.

Turn right into Bishops Bridge Road and walk on for 50yds before turning left into Queensway.

Walk the complete length of Queensway 800yds (stopping at Pubs, Restaurants and Whiteley’s if you must!) to its junction with Bayswater Road. (Congratulations your have now completed 7 Miles)

 

Turn right along Bayswater Road to the Crossing into Kensington Gardens 50yds

Cross Bayswater Road then turn right along Bayswater Road and walk to Palace Gardens Terrace (Not Mews, the Mews is a cul-de-sac) 300yds.

Turn into Palace Gardens Terrace and walk its full length, at the end you have to turn right into Vicarage Gate then Left again as that is how the road was designed, this leads you to the Junction with

Kensington Church Street 300yds.

 

At this junction if you look across Kensington Church Street, you should see the Church & Monastery of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. (Congratulations a total of 7.5 Miles)
