Stage 2 Sunday 15 June 2008 (6.8 miles ) Walk from Oxford Chaplaincy to Our Lady and St Edmund of Abingdon (Portsmouth Diocese) Mass – 7-00pm Start time 3pm. An earlier start time may be required for those wishing to avail themselves of refreshment along the way. The route will be marked with small laminated signs (Tony O’Donnell). Marshals will be supplied with high visibility bibs (Tony O’Donnell). First Aid contact: Trevor Hodkinson. All roads have safe pavements unless specified. Nick Frazer 07515294492 Transport and parking arrangements: Parking is available in public car parks near the start. However these are expensive and may be very busy especially if the weather is kind. Parking at the destination is limited. There is a car park at the church and in the school grounds, which are adjacent to each other. Street parking could be in short supply also. An option is to park near the destination and get a bus to Oxford. The Oxford Bus Company runs buses from Abingdon to Oxford Routes 35, 35A and 35B depart from Stratton Way about 500m from Our Lady & St Edmund Church. These run every half hour on a Sunday at 28 and 58 minutes past the hour until 1958hrs and then every hour until 2358hrs. This bus stops on St. Aldgates in Oxford very near to the start of the walk. The journey is 23 minutes. Car parking is available at Park&Rides around Oxford with buses travelling to central Oxford. However these are limited on a Sunday. Redbridge Park&ride is beside the route of the walk 1.3 miles out of Oxford where the route turns onto the old Abingdon Road and near the Oxford Ring Road
